Enable Google APIs
Turn on the Google APIs SlashPeak calls. Required APIs for scans, plus optional APIs for reservations, lineage, catalog, and logs.
Enable these APIs on the home project: the project that owns the service account key. SlashPeak makes its Google calls through that project, so you do not need to enable them on every project you scan. An IAM grant is not enough if the API is disabled. SlashPeak shows an enable link when a call returns SERVICE_DISABLED.
Use the Console library link, or copy the gcloud services enable command.
Required for scans
These two APIs must be on before Test connection can check any project. Turning an API on is free and gives no access by itself.
BigQuery API
bigquery.googleapis.com
gcloud services enable bigquery.googleapis.com --project=<PROJECT_ID>Cloud Resource Manager API
cloudresourcemanager.googleapis.com
gcloud services enable cloudresourcemanager.googleapis.com --project=<PROJECT_ID>| API | Why |
|---|---|
| BigQuery API | Job history, datasets, tables, INFORMATION_SCHEMA |
| Cloud Resource Manager API | Project metadata and testIamPermissions during Test connection |
Optional APIs
Scans still complete if these stay off. Related screens stay empty or show a disable card.
BigQuery Reservation API
bigqueryreservation.googleapis.com
gcloud services enable bigqueryreservation.googleapis.com --project=<PROJECT_ID>Data Lineage API
datalineage.googleapis.com
gcloud services enable datalineage.googleapis.com --project=<PROJECT_ID>Dataplex API
dataplex.googleapis.com
gcloud services enable dataplex.googleapis.com --project=<PROJECT_ID>Cloud Logging API
logging.googleapis.com
gcloud services enable logging.googleapis.com --project=<PROJECT_ID>| API | Unlocks |
|---|---|
| BigQuery Reservation API | Capacity commitments and reservation assignments. Only needed if you buy slots; on-demand projects can skip it |
| Data Lineage API | Dataplex lineage links and pipeline processes |
| Dataplex API | Knowledge Catalog entries |
| Cloud Logging API | BigQuery Admin Activity and Data Access audit logs |
Console vs gcloud
- Open APIs & Services → Library.
- Select the home project in the header.
- Search for the API name in the table above.
- Click Enable.
After you enable an API
Google takes about 1 to 2 minutes to switch an API on. Then press Test connection again, or wait for the next scheduled scan.
