Getting started

Create a SlashPeak account, join your company workspace, and connect the first BigQuery project.

Most teams go from signup to a first report in under ten minutes. You need a Google Cloud project with BigQuery, and a person who can create a service account.

1. Create an account

Open Sign up. Use your work email.

SlashPeak groups people by email domain. Every signup starts with role none (No access). If @yourcompany.com already has a workspace, your signup joins that account and waits until an owner grants viewer or owner. See Teams and roles.

If the account has no owner yet, you can set it up. The first person to save a working BigQuery connection becomes the owner.

2. Choose a plan or the trial

After you sign in, the Choose your plan page opens.

  • Request free trial: 30 days, no credit card, 1 seat, no AI. Our team approves it, and the 30 days start then. See 30-day trial.
  • Pick Starter, Growth or Pro: pay with a card. The plan starts at once. See Plans overview.

You can change the plan later in Settings → Billing.

3. Confirm you can create a service account

You need permission in GCP to:

  • Create a service account
  • Create a custom IAM role
  • Bind that role on each project you want scanned
  • Create a JSON key

Org Policy sometimes blocks key creation. If iam.disableServiceAccountKeyCreation is on, ask your GCP admin to allow a key for this scanner account, or use a process your security team already has for JSON keys.

4. Connect BigQuery

After you choose a plan, the setup wizard opens. It has five steps: Basics (account timezone and data region), BigQuery, Optional access, dbt and First scan. Optional access and dbt can be skipped and added later.

The BigQuery step has three sections. First pick the Access level: Organization level (recommended for 3 or more projects) or Project level. Then follow Google Cloud setup, which is the same as BigQuery setup, with a Console or gcloud choice for each step. Last, paste the JSON key under Service account key and click Test connection. Later, you can change the connection on Connect BigQuery.

SlashPeak lists every GCP project the key can see. Green projects have the necessary IAM permissions. Click a green project to exclude it. Red projects are missing permissions and cannot be scanned until you grant the custom role. You need at least one green project to save.

5. Run the first scan

The last setup step starts the first scan by itself after 15 seconds. Click Run your first scan to start it now, or Stop timer to start it later.

The first scan usually finishes in under a minute. It reads metadata, not table rows. It keeps running if you leave the page. When it is done, SlashPeak opens the Dashboard.

If the scan stays empty, see Troubleshooting.

What you should not expect

  • SlashPeak does not run DML, DDL, or SELECT against your tables.
  • A scan never applies a finding. Only the Cognis AI DBA (Growth and up) can make a fix, with its own key, after an owner allows it.
  • SlashPeak does not need bigquery.tables.getData.
