Billing and plan changes

Pay for a plan, switch between monthly and yearly, upgrade, downgrade, cancel, and what happens when a payment fails.

Only owners can pay for or change the plan. Payments go through Dodo Payments, our reseller and Merchant of Record. Dodo takes the payment, adds any sales tax, VAT or GST, and sends the invoice. SlashPeak never sees or stores your full card number.

Pay for a plan

You can pick a paid plan in two places:

  • Right after signup, on the Choose your plan page.
  • Later, in Settings → Billing → Choose a plan, on any day of the trial or after it ends. This opens a page with every plan in full.

Steps:

  1. Pick Monthly or Yearly.
  2. Click Choose Starter, Choose Growth or Choose Pro. A Dodo Payments checkout page opens.
  3. Enter your card and pay.
  4. Dodo sends you back to SlashPeak. The plan turns on within a few seconds.

A paid plan has no trial. The card is charged when you pay, and the plan starts at once.

The free trial is offered only once, right after signup. After you pay for a plan, or after your trial ends, you cannot start a new trial.

The Get Starter / Get Growth / Get Pro buttons on the Pricing page lead to the same steps. They open the plan and period you picked on the pricing page. Nothing is bought until you confirm.

Monthly or yearly

MonthlyYearly
Starter$199 / month$1,990 / year
Growth$499 / month$4,990 / year
Pro$999 / month$9,990 / year

Yearly saves 17% compared with 12 monthly payments. Only a plan billed yearly can set a yearly spend commit.

Change your plan

  1. Open Settings → Billing and click Change plan. A page with every plan in full opens. Your plan shows Current plan.
  2. Pick Monthly or Yearly.
  3. Click Upgrade to …, Downgrade to …, or Switch to yearly / monthly.
  4. A box shows what you pay now and when the change starts. Nothing changes until you confirm.
  5. Click Confirm change. You go back to Settings → Billing.

If a change waits for the end of your period, your current plan's button says Keep current plan. Click it to drop the waiting change.

Two things stop a plan change:

  • Too many members for a downgrade. The new plan must have enough seats for your team. Set the extra members to No access in Settings → Team, then downgrade. See Seats.
  • A cancel is set. If you cancelled in Manage billing, turn the cancel off there first, or contact support.

Manage billing

After your first payment, Settings → Billing also shows a Manage billing button. It stays there when a payment fails or the plan ends. It opens the Dodo Payments billing portal. There you can:

  • Change the card or the billing details.
  • See and download invoices and receipts.
  • Cancel.

Change plans in the middle of a period

These are the same rules that most software tools use.

ChangeWhen it startsWhat you pay
Upgrade (to a higher plan)At onceThe unused part of your current plan is a credit. A new period starts that day, and you pay the new price less the credit
Monthly → yearlyAt onceThe unused part of the month is a credit on the yearly charge
Downgrade (to a lower plan)At the end of the current periodNothing now. The new price starts next period
Yearly → monthlyAt the end of the current periodNothing now. A yearly spend commit is deleted when monthly billing starts
CancelAt the end of the current periodNo refund for the days left

Example: you are on Growth at $499 a month. On day 15 of 30 you move to Pro at $999. The unused half month of Growth (about $250) is a credit, so you pay about $749 now. Pro features turn on within seconds, and your next renewal is 30 days from that day.

When a change waits for the period end, Settings → Billing shows it. For example: "Changes to Starter, billed monthly, on Nov 8." You keep your current plan until that date.

Up or down goes by plan, not price

A higher plan is an upgrade even if the new price is lower. For example, Starter yearly ($1,990) to Growth monthly ($499) is an upgrade and starts at once. Pro monthly to Starter yearly is a downgrade and waits for the period end.

What happens to features when the plan changes

  • Upgrade: new features and higher limits turn on at once.
  • Downgrade: at the period end, features the new plan does not have lock again. Your settings, API keys, exports, members and findings are kept.
    • API keys are kept but answer 403 plan_required until you upgrade again.
    • A daily report email choice sends weekly instead. Weekly and monthly choices keep running.
    • Your team must fit in the new plan's seats before you can downgrade. While the downgrade waits, you cannot give anyone a seat above the new plan's limit.
    • The scan schedule and history move to the new plan's values.
    • Older history is deleted. We keep job and usage history for the new plan's history window plus about one month. Older rows are deleted at the next daily cleanup, and an upgrade later does not bring them back. For example, Pro to Growth: history older than about 61 days is deleted.
  • Cancel: you keep the plan until the period ends. Then the account turns read-only. See below.

If a payment fails

  • If an upgrade payment fails, nothing changes. You keep your current plan. The app shows the error. No email is sent.
  • If a renewal payment fails, every owner gets one email for that billing period. The email shows the amount in the currency you pay in. Your plan keeps working for a short grace period.
  • If the retries also fail, the plan goes on hold. Settings → Billing says so. Update the card in Manage billing to turn the plan back on. You cannot buy a new plan while one is on hold, so you are never charged twice.

If the card is not fixed, or the subscription ends:

  • The account gets the same lock as an ended trial: "Your plan has ended."
  • Scans stop. The app is read-only, except Settings.
  • We keep your data for 30 days after the end of your last paid period. Then we delete it.
  • Choose a plan again in Settings → Billing → Choose a plan to switch scans back on.
