Plans and billing

Plan limits

Every plan limit: seats, scans, history, AI usage, pull requests, API keys and exports. How each is counted and what you see when you reach it.

Each plan has limits. A limit never deletes data. When you reach one, the action waits or shows a message, and the rest of the app keeps working.

How limits are counted

  • AI usage resets each month on your billing date: the day your plan started. See AI usage.
  • Limits are per account, not per person. Every member of the account shares them.

Seats

A seat is one member with the owner or viewer role. You choose the mix. Members with No access (none) do not use a seat.

When every seat is in use, an owner cannot give a new person a role. The message says: set someone to No access, or upgrade for more seats.

See Teams, roles, and settings.

Scan schedule and history

  • The schedule is how often SlashPeak scans by itself. On paid plans, every scan after the first one runs on this schedule. On the free trial, an owner can also start one scan by hand every 24 hours.
  • History is how many days of BigQuery jobs each scan reads. Dashboard and Usage charts go back the same number of days.
  • On Enterprise, an owner can pick the schedule: every 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 12 or 24 hours. A slower schedule runs fewer INFORMATION_SCHEMA queries, so it costs you less in BigQuery.

See How scans work.

AI usage

  • Each plan has one monthly AI allowance. Cognis chat, chat titles, AI filters on Usage, the AI query optimizer and AI-written AI DBA fixes all use it.
  • Starter has 1x. Growth has 2.5x as much as Starter, and Pro has 5x. On Enterprise, the amount is set in your contract.
  • A long question, a big query or a large fix uses more than a short one.
  • Settings → Billing shows how much of this month's AI usage is used, and the reset date.
  • The allowance resets each month on your billing date: the day your plan started.
  • When it is used up:
    • Cognis shows: "You used all of this month's AI usage on the Starter plan. It resets on Nov 17, 2026." You can still read old chats.
    • New chats are named from your first question.
    • AI DBA fixes wait, and planning starts again on the reset date.
    • Scans, findings, alerts and dashboards keep working.

AI query optimizer

  • Free re-opens: if the same query was optimized in the last 30 days, and its tables did not change, the old answer opens again. It does not use AI usage.
  • There is also a fair-use cap of 50 runs per account per day, on every plan.

See AI query optimizer.

AI DBA actions and pull requests

  • Actions: there is no count. Each AI-written fix uses your AI usage. Rule-based fixes do not.
  • Fix pull requests opened: there is no count. Each AI-written fix uses your AI usage.
  • Open at once: when this many fix pull requests are open, the next one waits. It opens by itself when one of the open ones is merged or closed.
  • GitHub repos: how many repos you can map in Cognis Settings. Remove one to add another.
  • dbt Cloud CI runs: the first run starts by itself when the pull request opens. The rest are Re-run CI clicks.

The Plan usage card on Cognis → Activity shows your AI usage, and on Growth, Pro and Enterprise, the fix pull requests open now and the repos connected ("2 of 3" and so on), and the dbt Cloud CI runs each pull request gets.

See Cognis AI DBA and GitHub pull requests.

API keys and calls

  • Keys: active (not revoked) keys. Revoke a key to free its slot.
  • Calls per day: all /api/v1 calls of the account, per UTC day. Every key also has its own limit of 60 calls per minute.
  • Over the daily limit, calls answer 429 until the next UTC day.

See REST API and CSV exports.

Report emails

Each person picks how often they get the report email in Settings → Notifications → Reports:

  • Trial and Starter: weekly or monthly.
  • Growth, Pro and Enterprise: daily, weekly or monthly.

After a move to a lower plan, a daily choice sends weekly. See Report emails.

A feature your plan does not have shows a lock in the sidebar. Hover it to see which plan has it. The page itself shows what the feature does and a See plans button.
