Terms of Service
Last updated October 22, 2026
1. Acceptance of terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the SlashPeak website and application (the "Service"), operated by SlashPeak, Inc.. By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
2. Description of the Service
SlashPeak connects to a Google BigQuery project using a customer-provided, read-only, metadata-only service account, analyzes BigQuery metadata (query history, table structure, storage, and reservation data), and produces cost analytics and ranked savings findings. Customers may also use Cognis to ask questions in plain English and, optionally, enable Cognis AI DBA to apply a limited set of reversible fixes under a policy the customer controls. SlashPeak does not access the contents of your BigQuery tables; the only exception is the cost rows of a Cloud Billing export dataset, if you choose to link one.
3. Accounts, teams, and roles
You must be at least 18 years old and have authority to bind your organization to use the Service. Accounts are organized by email domain: anyone who signs up with a verified email at the same domain as an existing account joins that account automatically, initially without access to connected data. An account owner can grant a teammate the viewer role or promote them to owner. Each owner or viewer uses one seat, and your plan sets how many seats your account has. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity under your account, and for keeping your team's roles accurate. Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use.
On the Enterprise plan, an account owner may set a login policy for every member of the account: a limit on how many devices each member may keep signed in, and an idle timeout. When a member signs in on more devices than the limit allows, we sign out that member's oldest devices; when a session is idle for longer than the timeout, we sign it out. Signing a member out under the policy is an action of the account owner, not a suspension of the Service.
4. Your access grant and responsibilities
When connecting a BigQuery project, you represent and warrant that:
- You have the authority to create and grant the specified IAM permissions on the connected GCP project.
- The service account you provide is scoped only to the permissions SlashPeak documents as required (currently: bigquery.jobs.create, bigquery.jobs.listAll, bigquery.datasets.get, bigquery.tables.get, bigquery.tables.list, bigquery.reservations.list, resourcemanager.projects.get, bigquery.readsessions.create, bigquery.readsessions.getData), plus any optional permission groups you separately choose to grant for Cognis AI DBA or optional features.
- You will promptly revoke access (by deleting the connection and/or the service-account key in GCP) if you no longer wish SlashPeak to scan a project.
5. Plans, fees, and billing
After you sign up, an account owner chooses a plan before connecting a project. The plans, their prices, and their limits are described on our Pricing page.
AI usage. Each paid plan includes a monthly AI usage allowance, shared by every AI feature (Cognis chat, the AI query optimizer, and Cognis AI DBA). It resets each month on your billing start date, and unused usage does not carry over. When it is used up, AI features wait until the reset date, and the rest of the Service keeps working. Settings shows how much is used. On Enterprise, the allowance is set in your order form.
Free trial. You may ask for a free 30-day trial. We review each request and may approve or decline it at our discretion. The trial starts when we approve it, needs no payment card, and includes one seat and no AI features. When the trial ends, your account is locked (only Settings stays open) until you choose a paid plan. If you do not choose one, we delete your account's data 30 days after the trial ends.
Paid plans. Starter, Growth, and Pro are bought in the app and billed in advance, monthly or yearly. Our reseller and Merchant of Record, Dodo Payments, sells the subscription to you, takes the payment, and issues the invoice; its terms also apply to your purchase. These plans have no free trial: paid features start when your payment succeeds. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel it. You authorize Dodo Payments to charge your payment method for each renewal and for any upgrade.
Plan changes and cancellation. An upgrade, or a change from monthly to yearly billing, takes effect at once: the unused part of your current period is credited, a new billing period starts that day, and the new price less that credit is charged at once. A downgrade, or a change from yearly to monthly billing, takes effect at the end of the current period. If you cancel, your plan stays active until the end of the period you paid for and is not refunded for the remaining days. After that, your account is locked in the same way, and we delete its data 30 days after the end of your last paid period.
Failed payments. If a renewal or upgrade payment fails, we email the account owners. A failed upgrade leaves your current plan as it was. If a renewal payment is not fixed, your plan ends as if you had canceled it.
Enterprise. Enterprise plans are set up only through an executed order form, which sets the price, billing terms, and any terms that differ from these Terms.
Fees are non-refundable except as required by law or expressly stated otherwise. Prices do not include taxes. Where sales tax, VAT, or GST applies, Dodo Payments calculates it and adds it at checkout. We may change pricing for future billing periods with reasonable notice; a price change does not apply to a period you have already paid for.
6. Acceptable use
You agree to use the Service only as permitted by our Acceptable Use Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Among other things, you may not use the Service to access a BigQuery project you are not authorized to access, attempt to reverse-engineer, resell, or white-label the Service, or interfere with its integrity, security controls, or rate limits.
7. Your data; limited license to process it
As between you and us, you retain all right, title, and interest in your data, including your BigQuery metadata, query text, and dbt project. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to access, process, and store that data solely to provide and improve the Service for you. We do not use your data to train third-party foundation models, and we do not sell it.
8. Findings and AI outputs are recommendations, not guarantees
Findings, estimated savings, anomaly alerts and the causes we show for them, and answers from Cognis are generated from heuristic rules or AI models applied to your BigQuery metadata and documented pricing assumptions at the time of the scan or question. They are recommendations and estimates, not guarantees, and may be inaccurate or incomplete. Actual savings depend on factors outside our control, including your implementation of any recommendation, BigQuery pricing changes, and workload changes. An anomaly alert may arrive late, or not at all, and is not a replacement for your own budget controls in Google Cloud. You are solely responsible for reviewing any finding, estimate, alert, or AI answer before relying on it or applying it in your BigQuery project.
9. Cognis AI DBA
Cognis AI DBA is optional and off by default. To use it, you create and grant a separate operator service-account key, distinct from the read-only scanning key, scoped to only the permissions you choose to enable. Every action it may take is gated by a policy you set, which is off until an account owner turns it on. Depending on that policy, an action is either applied automatically within the limits you defined or held for a named person on your team to approve. Every action is logged, verified after it lands, and can be rolled back — rollback is performed on a best-effort basis and is not guaranteed to be possible in every case. Fixes to code in your repositories (dbt models and query code) never write directly to your branches: they arrive as pull requests opened by our GitHub App on a branch the app creates, and the app cannot merge a pull request or push to any other branch. If you set up the optional dbt Cloud CI check, we start the dbt Cloud job you choose on that branch, and each run uses your own dbt Cloud job minutes. You are responsible for reviewing and are solely responsible for any change applied under a policy you configured or approved.
10. Beta and coming-soon features
Features we label "beta," "preview," or "coming soon" (including support for additional warehouses) are provided on an as-is basis, may change materially or be discontinued at any time, and may be subject to additional terms presented at the time you enable them.
11. Third-party services and charges
Running the metadata queries the Service uses to scan your project incurs BigQuery usage charges on your own Google Cloud account, billed to you directly by Google — these are your responsibility, not ours. Payments are processed by Dodo Payments, our Merchant of Record, and are also subject to Dodo Payments' terms. Sign-in with Google or Microsoft, and optional integrations (Slack, GitHub, dbt Cloud, Cloud Billing export), are governed by their own providers' terms in addition to these Terms.
12. Intellectual property
SlashPeak retains all right, title, and interest in the Service, including its software, detection rules, and branding. Nothing in these Terms transfers any of that to you beyond the limited right to use the Service as permitted here.
13. Confidentiality
Each party will protect the other's confidential information with reasonable care and use it only to perform its obligations under these Terms, except as required by law.
14. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT FINDINGS OR AI OUTPUTS ARE ERROR-FREE, THAT APPLYING ANY RECOMMENDATION WILL RESULT IN ACTUAL COST SAVINGS, OR THAT ANY AI DBA ROLLBACK WILL SUCCEED.
15. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SlashPeak WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, OR DATA, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, INCLUDING ANY ACTION TAKEN BY COGNIS AI DBA UNDER A POLICY YOU CONFIGURED OR APPROVED. SLASHPEAK'S TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
16. Indemnification
You will indemnify and hold SlashPeak harmless from third-party claims arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Service, or the IAM permissions you granted, to the extent caused by you.
17. Termination; data export and deletion
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. Deleting the account cancels a paid plan so it does not renew; the period already paid is not refunded. We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these Terms, non-payment, or if required by law. Export any findings and reports you want to keep before your trial or paid plan ends: after it ends, your account is locked, and its data is deleted after a short period (see section 5). Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends immediately, and data deletion follows the retention terms in our Privacy Policy.
18. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles, unless otherwise required by applicable local law. Any dispute arising from these Terms will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and each party consents to the jurisdiction of those courts.
19. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date, and where appropriate, we will notify account holders by email before the changes take effect.
